Autotech Electrical’s pin-fit testing tool has become an essential piece of equipment in our Ford ASSET program in the last few years. Autotech Electrical donates one of these tools to all of our students in the program and donated additional sets to both ASSET instructors here at the college.
This tool helps our students accurately diagnose intermittent faults and network issues that are common on today’s complex vehicles. Accurately checking pin-fit can only be accomplished by using the proper-sized terminal as a gauge. Ruling out pin-fit as a cause of the concern should be one of the first steps performed in electrical testing.
The tool is compact, affordable and the small terminal sizes are clearly color coded for easy identification. This tool also saves diagnostic time by being able to clip a test lead straight on to the terminal’s looped wire after checking terminal pin-fit. This allows a technician to measure or load test electrical circuits quickly and properly without any damage to the fragile female terminals.
As a Ford ASSET instructor for over 20 years dedicated to teach students to Fix-it-Right the First-Time, I feel this tool is an absolute must-have to accurately diagnose and repair today’s complex automotive electrical and electronics systems.

I saw one of the technicians at our dealership using the Autotech Electrical Pin Fitment tool about a year back and was impressed at the amount of pins present in the kit and the ease of use. Most terminal testing kits do not supply nearly as many pins for fitment testing as this tool and they do not come in as small and neat of a package.
I have since obtained my own set and I use it regularly on nearly every electrical diagnosis I complete. Not only is this tool great for checking pin fitment, but I have found that it is very useful when checking circuitry for resistance, voltage drop, powers and grounds and not having any worry of damaging connector terminals as these are the correct fit.
I measured my whole set pin by pin and the highest resistance is 0.2 ohms, so I’m confident my measurements are accurate. I would highly recommend this tool to all technicians from highest to lowest levels and will be ensuring all my technicians have at least one set in their tool box.

In the automotive service and repair industry, customer satisfaction is critical to not only staying in business, but also excelling in our business. We all know time is money and repairing something right the first time is vital to retaining our customers. We have found that with the complexities of our modern vehicles you need to know how to properly diagnose vehicles using the best tools available to repair vehicles on time and feel confident that the repairs performed corrected the customer’s concern.
It is easy to misdiagnose a concern with electronics systems. Something as simple as a loose connection in the wiring can lead you down an expensive path and a repeat repair. We have found the “Electrical Terminal Pin-Fit/Tension Testing Tool” to be a great addition to all of our technician’s tool boxes. The tool has all of the terminals found on Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles and the terminals are color coded for ease of use. We have found it to be invaluable in finding loose pin-fit connections at modules, connectors etc.
In the first few electrical and electronics issues we used them in, it saved us from buying components that were NOT needed. I ended up buying a set for every technician in the shop! This is a great tool, priced right and I highly recommend them.
